Pudding Mill Lane
Project Description:
Located on the southern fringe of the LLDC’s masterplan for Stratford, this scheme forms a key piece in the Olympic legacy jigsaw. Pudding Mill Lane aims to be a thriving, new local centre around an overground rail station delivering c.900 homes and 36,000sqm of employment space.
The new neighbourhood will have 40% affordable housing, split between a mix of London Affordable Rent, London Living Rent and Shared Ownership.
The design focuses also on delivering: shops, places to eat and drink, community and leisure spaces, two new riverside parks for play and relaxation, a health centre, nursery, and workspaces for around 2,000 people.
Key Challenges:
-
Proximity to the River Lea and Pudding Mill River which may require river wall reinforcement works.
-
Proximity of railway assets to the north boundary.
-
Design to consider flood risks for residential units facing rivers.
-
Presence of UKPN substation at the center of the site and its 24h access requirements.
-
PLUG Tunnel running beneath the site requiring cantilevered design for Plots 7 and 8 (commercial buildings)
