Apple Inc. Commercial Offices

Project Description:

Project Floyd consists of the design and fit out of the new Apple Inc. Office in London.

The space that forms Apple’s demise is approximately 500,000 sq. ft. net area, principally located on levels 5 -10 of the Boiler House. It includes the entirety of the central atrium and lobby area below at upper ground floor, as well as access to a landscaped ‘Sky Garden’, storage and shower facilities at basement level, and shared plant room equipment.

The new office will accommodate up to 3100 staff from the end of 2022.

The design consists of reproportioning the floor plates with four dramatic floor voids adjacent to the historic façade, to create cathedral like windows and reveal 5 floors of the historic building.  Wide bridges connect floor plates at every level to maintain fluid circulation routes throughout. Wide platform bridges, accommodating tree planters, span the atrium providing biophilia and connectivity with valuable break out spaces.

Two feature stairs are to be inserted into the voids to promote movement in the workspace instead of circulating between floors using elevators.

The glazing at level 10 is modified to accommodate 24 oriel windows. These new features provide open plan but intimate scale meeting spaces with dramatic high-level views down into the atrium or upwards towards the iconic chimneys of the historic building.
