Project Description:

 

The scheme extends along the A27, from west of Beddingham to Polegate and is approximately 15km in length.

 

Wilmington Improvement 

• Provision of a Pegasus crossing 

• Reduction in the village speed limit 

• Minor alterations to local accesses

 

Berwick Improvement 

• Enlargement of roundabout 

• Provision of 2 lane flared entries and exits on the A27 arms 

• Crossing upgraded from Toucan to Pegasus standard 

 

Polegate improvements 

• Polegate bypass widened to 2 lanes northbound between Polegate bridge and Cophall roundabout 

• New traffic signals at upgraded Gainsborough Lane junction 

• Upgraded 2 No. pedestrian crossings from Pelicans 

 

Non-motorised user improvements 

• New footway/cycleway between Firle and Polegate 

• New pedestrian/cycle footbridge over the River Cuckmere 

• New pelican crossing between Glynde and Firle

 

Designation of the NMU to bridleway, specifically to the sections around Pegasus crossings at Wilmington and Berwick
